Messy Pages.

A few more pages from TBOL (The Book on Love.)  They're messy and not so nice to look at, but it's my first art journal so I don't really know what I'm doing.  I have a hard time deciding what to put on the pages.  I know the whole point is to be free and just go for it, that's hard for me.  I'm getting over that though...quickly.

I decided that the whole book can't be about romantic love because I would go crazy.  (And it would probably turn out to be very cynical, lol.  Don't get me wrong, all that mushy stuff is fine and all, it's just not for me.  Especially when I'm in a bit of a funk.)  So, I'm going to include other stuff that I love- like paintings, books, and mobsters!

Do you keep an art journal?  Where do you find your inspiration from?  Do you find it's better to have a journal with a theme or just go with whatever you are thinking at the moment?

Anyhoo, thanks for looking!  I'll check back in later since I've been so lazy about blogging lately.

I love this idea! I used to journal via text daily and insert a lot of images, and then for awhile just did visual journals. It was a lot of fun and I found it much more interesting to look back on.

And I like your idea of a theme. Sometimes a little restiction makes it much easier to be creative. Case in point, the Hubs is participating in a Sidney Crosby photoshop contest. He hasn't done any photoshop in awhile, but once the direction/restriction on what to do was there, he was on fire!

Personally I think whatever works for you- if you like a free flowing thing, if you want a theme like "science" or "things I'd like to break" whatever makes you happy and inspires you. I enjoy a little flexibility myself, a theme with room to manuever.

HA HA, those photos were hilarious. as for a fav, mine had to be the Bob Ross one. I'm not sure about the meaning behind the painting but anything with Bob Ross is freakin great. PBS has started re-airing that show in a "best of" series. yeah, i totally watched it earlier this week.

"things I'd like to break" that's awesome. I have to do a spread like that. hopefully, there won't be too many pretty faces on that one.

I think a theme will work nicely for this one. It is good to have a place to go with it when I'm feeling uninspired.

I have another journal that I made out of a different style. I'm trying to see which one is easier to make and work in. I think in that one I'm just going to do whatever comes to mind. since I'm new to it I have to experiment a bit and try new things. sometimes i don't branch out as much as i should... i guess that's why i'm doing it, i need more variety.
