BLEEP!

A while back (as in October!) I did a personal swap with csjoyeuxnoel on swapbot.  It's occurred to me that I never showed you the loot.

She requested a woodland themed piece with dark colors, so I made her this-
I used a Sew Lovely Embroidery pattern on muslin.  I tinted it with colored pencils, didn't do so well on the dark color part, but she like it just the same.  Phew!  The sky is my favorite part!  I promise, the border isn't really crooked.  It just looks that way with my sloppy photo- whoopsy!

For the trees, I used a few browns.  Not sure if it makes a big difference, but it seemed like a good idea at the time.

In return, csjoyeuxnoel made me this!!! Awwwww yeah- a great one-liner from one of my favorite movies, Casino.  I told her to surprise me and mentioned that movies are kind of my thing.  She did great- thanks, Courtney!

Sorry about the edit, I'm trying to keep it clean.  You know, for those folks who are reading this at the office when they're supposed to be working....you know who you are.  I would hate for you guys to miss out on lovely, crafty distractions on account of my potty mouth.  To be honest, I'm surprised I've managed to maintain a profanity free blog for this long.  Considering the fact that I cuss like a sailor in real life.

That being said, here's the scene that this awesome stitchy piece is referencing.  It is most definitely not safe for work, unless you work someplace pretty cool.  Please don't tune in if you dislike cinematic violence, gangsters, blood, Joe Pesci, the F word, and/or tools such as, ice picks and vices.  You have been warned, thank you.

Hope everyone is having a great day.  Aside from feeding an addiction to Words with Friends, I'm getting a lot done.  Some stitching, some painting, some sewing.  And a little bit later I'm going to get busy in the kitchen making my famous lasagna....  I love busy days!

I love Mermaids!

It occurred to me that I never showed you the loot I received from the "Non-Cutesy Mermaid ATC" Swap I participated in on Swap-bot.  You can see the card I made HERE in an older post.

Look what bluehairedmary made for me!
Isn't it perfect for me?!  I do love it so.  Now I just need to find a tiny frame so it can go on the wall with all of the other stitched goodies.

Thriftacular Thursday!

Last time I went thrifting I found a bunch of crafty stuff.  That's always exciting!

Here it is:

Both sets of napkins were in excellent condition, they looked like they had never been used.  I'm so in love with the green ones,  maybe it's the lace, maybe it's the color.  The second I saw them I knew they had to be mine, so I was relieved that they were nice.  Having to put them back for being in crappy condition would have killed me.  I have big plans for the yellow ones!  I can't wait to finish them.  I'll give you a clue- quote.

Four zippers- in case I can ever figure out how to sew in a zipper.  It's a big goal for me... I want to make pillows for my embroidery pieces but I want them washable.  Now I just need to coax ol' Bessie into helping me out.

And last but not least, 2 packages of Aida cross-stitch fabric.  I'm venturing out people.  I'm finally going to learn.  It should be interesting with the whole counted thing... I'm easily distracted.  But I'm going to try.  I've gathered up some patterns, I already have more than enough floss to get me started and now I've got Aida.  Wish me luck!

Have you thrifted anything good lately?

Thank You For Being A Friend....

I am now the proud owner of two (that's right, two!) new pieces of wall art from the talented Magpienight.  I hung them in my crafting studio, on the wall in my sewing corner.  Of course, the guys in the house think I'm absolutely ridiculous but they don't know what they're missing!

The color isn't the best in this photo but that corner sucks for lighting despite being next to a window.

I love watching stuff as an adult that I'd seen as a kid.  Now that I actually understand all of their catty remarks and dirty jokes, The Golden Girls is a new found favorite of mine.  So when I saw these I knew that they had to come and live with me.

How about you?  Re-discovered any old gems waiting to become your new favorite?
