Thriftacular Thursday!

Last time I went thrifting I found a bunch of crafty stuff.  That's always exciting!

Here it is:

Both sets of napkins were in excellent condition, they looked like they had never been used.  I'm so in love with the green ones,  maybe it's the lace, maybe it's the color.  The second I saw them I knew they had to be mine, so I was relieved that they were nice.  Having to put them back for being in crappy condition would have killed me.  I have big plans for the yellow ones!  I can't wait to finish them.  I'll give you a clue- quote.

Four zippers- in case I can ever figure out how to sew in a zipper.  It's a big goal for me... I want to make pillows for my embroidery pieces but I want them washable.  Now I just need to coax ol' Bessie into helping me out.

And last but not least, 2 packages of Aida cross-stitch fabric.  I'm venturing out people.  I'm finally going to learn.  It should be interesting with the whole counted thing... I'm easily distracted.  But I'm going to try.  I've gathered up some patterns, I already have more than enough floss to get me started and now I've got Aida.  Wish me luck!

Have you thrifted anything good lately?

here in London near me there's the most fabulous carboot sale. because there's a lot of house clearance stuff I have managed to get m.o.p. buttons, embroidery thread, vintage needle cases, fabric, handerchiefs, needles, thread and oh so many great things from dear old ladies, who have obviously been hoarding for ages! Love the recycling element too.

Look forward to seeing the fruits of your labour.

zippers always get me all messed up with sewing. But I see them at goodwill all the time and want to buy them, but never do.

Amelia- sounds like you've found a lot of wonderful things. vintage supplies are the best, especially when they come from a little old lady who took meticulous care of them over the years!

urban- I'm trying to conquer a fear here with all of these darned zippers. i'm hoping that practice makes perfect.

Gretchen- I'm lucky that there are so many good ones around here- and in the bay area too. I love going thrifting whenever we go to SF or Berkeley for the day. But my all time fav is a thrfit store in the next town over that it nothing but craft supplies- they even sell their fabric by the pound. I could spend sooo much money there, lol.

mrs evils- when i finally cross over i'll let you know... hopefully I won't mess up too much, lol.

I've been thinking about trying to start a local stitch and bitch group. kind of like an old lady sewing circle but for cool people like us! you know the kind- with champagne and TPB on the TV for background noise. Where geese in bonnets aren't allowed but zombies and offensive words are highly encouraged! i'll let you know if other people are interested... but you are so close i would love for you to join, it would be fun...maybe. actually no guarantees, lol.

Sure! Keep me posted. I work effed up hours though which has kept me from doing things like this in the past...no free evenings or afternoons during the week. :(
