Since it's Friday, I know most of you are winding down and getting ready to have a fun weekend.  Like these guys...

P.S.  Um, yeah.  Loving the shorts with the suit coat.  Or do you think they're laughing because he's partying so hard he lost his pants?  Don't get so wild that you lose your pants this weekend.

My guy is the best!  He brought me to a place that has enough old photos for sale to have Snapshot Friday for the rest of my life.  Now you guys don't have to look at my boring ol' photos on Fridays anymore....if I posted one, I've been so bad lately.

I'm happy because I've missed the old timey photo Fridays.  I can't wait to go pick out some more from my new favorite store.

Gorgeous, huh?!  Kind of reminds me of Gene Kelly.  And that deckle edge?  Swoon.  This one definitely has me longing for a bygone era. 

I've got a ton of projects to share with you guys, once my sorry butt gets them in the mail.  See you soon!  I have the weekend off and plan on spending a lot of time working on bloggy/etsy stuff.  Hopefully making up for my extreme lack of activity around these parts lately.

It's Dillon's great grandparents on their wedding day.  I think it was in 1898.  Wow, I just love everything about it.  The background, their clothes, their expressions.  Everything.  Such a drastic difference compared to the weddings photos of today.

Snapshot Friday!

It's that time of year again, school's out and everyone is getting ready for a little fun in the sun.  Unfortunately the weather isn't cooperating at the moment, it's just a tad gloomy for fun in the sun around here. 

I'll probably spend most of my weekend stitching.  Despite being up to my elbows in stuff to do, I bought 3 new embroidery patterns on etsy yesterday.  After hearing the tragic news of Rue McClanahan's passing, I thought a little retail therapy was in order.  It didn't help much but I did have a great time thinking up incredibly perverted things to say all day, Blanche would have been proud.  RIP Rue.

Anyone have big plans for the weekend?  Making something great?

Ok, kiddos, you know what time it is.  Ready for it?  Today I have some more poorly stored, badly mistreated art class refugees that took in.

This makes me want a pair of Saddle Shoes.  I already have cat eye glasses.  I might as well just finish off the look.

I like to imagine these are the same two gals later in life, still laughing it up together.  But instead of finding humor at a classmate's expense now they just laugh at their significant others.

Snapshot Friday!

Howdy, Folks!  Sorry I've been scarce this week, I've been a walking, talking zombie.  At one point I actually thought my brain had dissolved and was slowly leaking out of my face.  Between hacking and wheezing, I haven't had much time for anything else.  My feeble attempts at stitching were brought to an end when I realized I was doing more harm to my projects than good.  So I resigned myself to the couch and ridiculously long blocks of Law and Order.  Sad, I know.  Still sick, but now I feel like I can sit at the computer for more than 3 minutes without having to call in a Haz-Mat Team.

Anyways, enough about me, how have you been?  Doing anything craftastic lately?  I hope everyone is ready for Snapshot Friday.  We've got another oldie but goodie this week.

For some reason, the gal in this picture reminds me of Pippi Longstocking.  Remember her?  Even as an adult, I still smile when I think about her crazy house, Villa Villekulla, the monkey or sleeping with your feet on the pillow.  I can't wait to add the books and movies to my personal collection.  So far, I've spared my man the embarrassment of being in the rental place with me while I giddily scoop of these classics.  Grabbing them before some poor defenseless child even has the chance, laughing maniacally to myself- MUAH HA HA HA HA MUAH HA **hack**  **choke**  **cough**  Sorry, I got carried away there.

Can anyone tell the hall I'd be hanging out in?  Yep, Stonehenge.  Not only were these gentlemen handsomely dressed, check out all of the skinny ties, but I see a lot of booze on that table.  And I like me some booze.

Alrighty, now that I've made myself seem like a total drunkard I'm getting back to work.

Snapshot Friday!

Hello, lovely readers!  Welcome to this edition of Snaphot Friday!  I was thrilled to remember this photo that I'm sharing with you today.  It's just in time for Easter.  It's one of my favorites but sadly it is another communal art box refugee, so it is in very poor shape.  I would love to get it restored someday but until then I'll frame it and put it away.  If I ever become one of those ladies who decorates for holidays, I whip it out for the festivities.  It won't be out of place as there are tons of photos of strangers around our place.  Is that weird?

Isn't it sweet?

I wish I knew their names.  There is lovely handwriting on the back, but as you can see by the edge it's been mounted onto matte board so you can't read it.  Although, I can make out "Easter Sunday" on the top edge.  Trying to remove it would just damage it further.  I know this for sure- I tried to get a little glimpse at the year.

Check out the little girl's matching coat and bonnet.  The scalloped edge by the buttons is just darling.  And the baby's jumper- the material on the cuffs of the pants matches his little shirt.  Accckkkk!  It's all just so adorable, it's killing me.

Hello!  Welcome to a very special edition of Snapshot Friday.  Today's photos are brought to you by Kira from Oops!  I Craft My Pants.  She was nice enough to send in some lovely vintage photos of her family.  Thank you Kira!!

Kira informed me that she's from a very large family.  Her great-grandmother had 18 kids.  In 1957, she was awarded the title of Mother of the Year for the state of Montana.  They were even featured in the Saturday Evening Post, how cool is that?  That means Kira's dad is one of 65 grand children!  Wowee, that's a lot of names and birthdays to remember.

This is her great aunt, Ellie, relaxing with her dog.

And last but certainly not least, Kira's favorite!  (And mine too.)

Kira explained that this picture was taken in the 1940s at a family gathering.  There was a contest to for all of the ladies in attendance.  Each had to tell a "sob story" about why their life was the absolute worst.  Whoever won was to be crowned "Queen for a Day", isn't that great?  I love it.  She informed me that her grandmother, "the one on the right, with the smirk", was a runner-up.

  This was the first time anyone has ever submitted photos for Snapshot Friday!  It was quite exciting to share something with you that was new to me as well.  So, a big thanks to Kira!

 Ok, so there are a few things that I find disturbing about this page.  Yep, pretty much every picture bothers me.  Considering that the higher education system here in California is experiencing a huge racism scandal, among other things, I thought this page was fitting.  I'm mean, look at it!  The guy in the suit looks worried to just be walking past the cop.  And this is the shot that makes it into the freakin' yearbook?  Wow.  That's pretty much all I can say.

This week's sample is another communal supply box refugee swiped from my class a few years ago.  It's one of my favorites, but it makes me a little sad every time I see is because it's in such bad shape.  Poor little one.

Alright, this week's edition of Snapshot Friday is going to be a bit different.  I'm going a bit personal with it.  However, as both pictures are more than 20 years old, they officially fit the definition of vintage.  So, yeah. And please excuse the awkward cropping, I figured no one else had to be embarrassed along with me.

I look like some sort of jabroni saying (in a strong NY or Jersey accent) "OH! Whattaya doin?  Don't be takin' my picture!"

Yeah, long story short- surgery sucks!  Now, if you'll excuse me.  I'm off to take some wonderful pills and watch The Golden Girls.  Man, I love those mean ol' ladies!  (That reminds me- tune in tomorrow to see my latest etsy purchase.  I'll give you a hint- it has to do with The Golden Girls.)

Tis' the season for a Christmas photo!  I gather that this is holiday photo based on the cards displayed in the background as well as the red & green wrapping paper on the floor.  Ok, so they're not all bundled up for snowy weather, but maybe it was taken here in CA.

This gorgeous gal looks pumped about whatever tape she's about to play.  Aside from having a lovely lady, this photo is also awesome for the following reasons:

*the satin dress on the girl about to rock out

*the Macrame vest

* Girl wearing said vest is also hold a Chicago record

* the fake mantle with "Home Sweet Home" sign

Snapshot Friday!

I'll start this off by saying, I freaking love Pedro Almodovar.

His films are not for the faint of heart.  They're often filled with emotion, sexuality, controversy, and death.  All of which are pretty much taboo in American society today, despite being a part of everyday life.  Guaranteed to make you think-about yourself, life and your fellow human being- his film's are powerful.  Watch one!  For those of you who don't care for subtitles- run away...far away.

That's why I picked this one.  For those of you familiar with the film, you will see my connection.  For those of you who haven't seen it- watch it!

Please don't hate me or boycott me based on this week's photo selection.  I didn't take this photo.  Nor do I like, participate, or encourage blood sports.  This does not speak for my opinion on animals either.  It's just a thrifted photo that I happened to have in my possession.
