On the Go.

On Sunday, we were on our way to a birthday party and my dress was driving me crazy!  So I threw in a quick stitch to keep the neckline the way I wanted it.  I figured that was a better option than my guy's offer to staple it.  Although that did result in a laughing fit and a new business proposal, Easy Squeeze Alternations- The quickest alterations in town.  You wear 'em, while we repair 'em!  (You heard it here first, folks.)

 I managed to hide a tiny little stitch in a black part of the pattern and I was good to go.  So, yep, this is how I do it.  Altering my clothes while I wear them.  I'm not sure if I would say this is always a good idea, but it worked out this time.

Anyone else do weird stuff like this?

Words on Wednesday!

See you tomorrow?  Wow, I was feeling ambitious when I wrote that, considering it was a holiday weekend.  I should have known that I would be more focused on stuffing my face with delicious grilled food and maintaining a frosty beverage at all times.  Although the "off to pet someone" part was pretty accurate.  Our babies got a ton of attention this weekend since it was both of us at home.

Last week I missed "Words on Wednesday" because apparently I can't keep track of time and realized too late that it was actually Thursday when I wrote it.  Oh well, turns out for the better anyways.  Looking back at it, it's a bit grumpy and depressing, reflecting my mood at the time.  Trashed it.  This week it'll be happy!

Today's words are, "Officially Licensed!"  I received my signed contract back and I am now officially licensed by Sublime Stitching!  Yay!  

It's crazy to think that years ago a little ol' ad for Jenny's patterns in the back of a Juxtapoz magazine got me started on this crazy embroidery journey.  Now I'm licensed by her company to sell items made from those patterns!  It's really mind blowing to me.  I never would have thought that a little curiosity about a new hobby would turn into so much, it's practically my life now.  I've learned so much and met amazing people, all thanks to embroidery.  It's nuts!

I'm happy that I can share this news with you, it's very exciting for me.  Now that that's done, I'm off to get in a little stitching before work.  Then I'll be back at it when I get home, I've got to get this thing finished by this time next week!  I'll share another picture soon.  I know that last one was horribly vague.  Bye for now!

Hey there, folks!  Today's Public Service Announcement is brought to you by the letter, S!  S stands for Sunblock.  Remember to use it if you are roughly the color of paper.  Trust me when I say, it's a lovely shade of red.  This photo really doesn't do it justice.

Other than sitting around being burnt, I'll be stitching.  I have today off and will be taking full advantage of it.  It's my last before 7 work days in a row and I'm tired just thinking about it.  I don't have much desire to move at all today.  If you need me, you can find me here. 

I made those pillows with the fabric I got when I was duped by Ikea, remember?  I realized I had never shown them to you.  They were super easy and quick to make, thanks to my honey.  I had some complicated design in mind that was intimidating me quite a bit.  There were multiple pieces of fabric, all different sizes....zippers, I was out of my league.   Then the guy spoke up and offered up an easy solution, what would I do without him?!

One piece construction and the pillows slip right in.  I think it took longer to iron the edges than it did to sew these babies up.  

I adore this fabric!  The only problem is, I can't decide which little section I like better.  The goats or the mountain man?  I have a few swatches left and I can't wait to turn them into little stitchy pieces.

Well, I'm off to the couch, with embroidery supplies in hand.  The guy finally saw the light about Netflix- Hello, streaming SVU! Aww yeah.  Nerding out for the rest of the afternoon, bye!

I'm Stuffed!

Years ago, Dillon painted an awesome picture of me.  I swear, I laugh every time I look at it.  I should probably look at it whenever I'm feeling a little down or angry.  Because I love it so much I decided to make it into a stuffie for him.  

I tried to make it as close to the original as possible.  I crayon tinted the body and used watercolors for the hair. Then I embroidered the features.  Originally, I was going to do all satin stitching however after spending about 8 hours on just the face I changed my mind.  So the rest is done with a simple back stitch, except for my name.  Part of me wishes I would have left it a rectangle because the shape is a bit awkward.  Oh well, I still love it.

Here I am, just lounging in one of my favorite chairs. 

I started to complain about my abnormally large facial features but Dillon said I should probably be more concerned about my shoulder joints.  I think he is right.  We joke that my one hand and face is so large because I'm leaning in to scold him, hence the pointing finger.  He's taking a figure drawing class at the present time, I told him that he should show his teacher that he already knows foreshortening.

 I backed it with some vintage denim material because it was tough yet festive.  Just like me!

I used three different colors in the eyes.  I combined two strands of dark blue, medium blue and sea-foam green to for a six strand floss.  I had contacts back then, but I might whip up some little cat eyed glasses for her me.  I haven't decided yet.

That's my name, don't wear it out.

I think that the shoes are my favorite part.  They remind me of The Witches... plain, sensible shoes.

Snapshot Friday!

Alright, this week's edition of Snapshot Friday is going to be a bit different.  I'm going a bit personal with it.  However, as both pictures are more than 20 years old, they officially fit the definition of vintage.  So, yeah. And please excuse the awkward cropping, I figured no one else had to be embarrassed along with me.

I look like some sort of jabroni saying (in a strong NY or Jersey accent) "OH! Whattaya doin?  Don't be takin' my picture!"

Yeah, long story short- surgery sucks!  Now, if you'll excuse me.  I'm off to take some wonderful pills and watch The Golden Girls.  Man, I love those mean ol' ladies!  (That reminds me- tune in tomorrow to see my latest etsy purchase.  I'll give you a hint- it has to do with The Golden Girls.)
