I'm a Bookworm- Part 2

I realized as I looked at my Happy Hoopy Wall that I never showed you guys what I got in the Phat Quarter Book Themed Swap.  I'm terrible!

I got this little lovely from Salvaged Mutiny.  She's a talented stitcher who makes costumes while traveling the world on a giant cruise ship.  Find her on flickr or check out her blog!

Into The Woods - Detail 2

Check out all the detail in the trees!   Isn't that awesome?  I love fairy tales, especially the dark ones, so this was right up my alley.  I'm certainly a lucky gal.

Well, that's all I've got for tonight.  I'm off to bed so I can get up bright and early for the morning shift at my work.  See you tomorrow for Snapshot Friday!  Sweet dreams, kids.

A Pin-Up Party!

The Pin-Up Embroidery swap organized by Snifferooski was a huge success.  Those of you who joined me in it, wouldn't you agree?

I made this one for my partner, while I was in Michigan.  I used the Pin-Up Pattern from the gals at Sew Lovely Embroidery.
Since I had to scan it, the pattern on the fabric is much more evident than it is in person.  Of course, I had to get some Metallic floss on there, oh shiny!  And I also used Rayon floss for her stockings, so they have a nice silky, gleam to them, too.

For that swap, Raegun83 made me this gal.  I think it is a Sublime Stitching pattern.  She also used Metallic and Rayon floss.  Great minds, huh?

When I arrived home, I found my package from Cleof for the "Embroidery in Red" Swap.  And guess what she stitched me?  A Pin-Up!  Funny how that all worked out.  Here's her lady, another Sublime Stitching one.
Don't you just love those gemstones?  I sure do.

Today I'm stitching like crazy, all swap stuff.  I'm going to have quite a bit of mail to send out pretty soon.  What are you up to today?  Anything fun?

Thanks for looking.  Have a craftastic day!

p.s. Thanks for tolerating my lack of nice pics lately, we should be taking care of that soon.

Mama Mia!!

So, I'm not sure if I mentioned it or not but I'm a part of a group on flickr called, "Switchin' Stitches." I was surprised to get an invite to this group but I'm oh so glad that I did.

I was paired up with the group's founder, Quiltikimmie, a nice lady with all sorts of stitching talent. And like me, she's a huge fan of swapping! Check out her photostream, it's chock full of goodies she's made. (You can link to it by clicking on the picture, I borrowed one from her for this post.)

Right now we're in Round 1 of swaps, and this is what I received from Kimmie. I picked movies as my theme and she ran with it. Awesome, right?! Not only is it my favorite movie but she also managed to incorporate my love of quotes. I love it! I can't wait to get it framed and up onto the wall. (I'm planning on making space for the Wall of 'Broideries this weekend.)

She said that now she'll probably never stitch on black fabric again. I feel terrible about contributing to that, but happy that she had the patience to stick it out for this amazing piece.

Accckkk, I'm so excited about all of these goodies that have been coming my way. I'm wondering what I did to be so lucky!

Very soon, I'll show you my piece to her. She picked a crafty theme with an emphasis on black, red and white.

A HUGE thank you to Kimmie for making me this wonderful embroidery.

Thanks for looking, have a craftastic day.

p.s. With the Phat Quarter Movie Swap coming up, there are movie stitches galore 'round these parts.

I love Mermaids!

It occurred to me that I never showed you the loot I received from the "Non-Cutesy Mermaid ATC" Swap I participated in on Swap-bot.  You can see the card I made HERE in an older post.

Look what bluehairedmary made for me!
Isn't it perfect for me?!  I do love it so.  Now I just need to find a tiny frame so it can go on the wall with all of the other stitched goodies.

Swaptastic!

I'm not sure if I told you guys or not, but I joined Swap-bot.  As a crafty gal and a mail enthusiast, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to join a group of like-minded people.  Check it out, I would be willing to bet there is a swap or two that will catch your eye.

I signed up for my first swap too, an embroidery swap with a fairy tale theme.  And even though send-outs are over two weeks away, I already received my package from the talented Snifferooski in Ohio.

Isn't it darling?  I love the tassels she made by putting the knot on the front.  I'm going to paint a frame to go with it.  Can't wait to show you when it's up on the wall.

It's exciting to get a little something a person with a totally different style than your own.  I never would have interpreted it this way, which is why I love it so much.

Now for my piece, to show or not to show??
I'm 99% sure that my partner doesn't read my blog but I'm still torn as to what to do.  I've already decided I will not be showing personal swap stuff on here until after my partner has received it.  (Sorry, Sam.)  But what about Swap-bot stuff, is there a protocol?  Since you don't know who your partner is, does it matter?  What do you think?  Help!

Thanks for looking, I hope that you all have a creative day.  I'm off to be productive...hopefully.

Spoiled Rotten- part 1.

As I mentioned yesterday, I've been spoiled rotten lately when it comes to receiving mail.  These are some recent ATCs that I've traded for.

From Sam in Australia.

Accckkkk, check out this gorgeous couching!

From Allen in Ohio.
Entitled: Sure, the other witches said she lacked ambition, but in Logan all the town's children loved Nurse Hildegard.

From Jeannie in South Dakota.

A big thank you to Sam, Allen, and Jeannie for trading their wonderful cards.  Be sure to check out the links I've included for them.  Perhaps, there is something perfect for you to trade for!

Ironically, when negotiating the trade with Jeannie I learned that she had sent me some ATCs in an Artist Exchange that I was participating in on Flickr.  Those are coming up next in "Spoiled Rotten- Part 2."

Postcrossing Update.

I've received a few more pieces of correspondence from Postcrossing.

From Cheng in China.

From Yvonne in Florida.

From Nina in Italy.

(This lady officially had the most beautiful handwriting I have ever seen!)

And since I am officially addicted, I sent out a few too.

(This one isn't from around here but the guy wanted a lighthouse.)

More mail posts to come because I've been spoiled rotten lately!
